Abstarct: Abstract Sesame plant is one of the important oilseeds and edible seeds in traditional agriculture of warm areas. Drought more than any other environmental factor limits plant growth and reduces crop production. One of the effective measures in this field is the use of superabsorbent polymers. These materials absorb and retain water several times their own weight. Due to the drying of the environment, the water inside the polymer is gradually drained and thus the soil stays moist for a long time without the need for re-irrigation. In order to investigate the effect of low irrigation on yield and some growth characteristics of sesame, an experimental split plot was performed baxsed on a randomized complete block design with 3 replications in Davarzan city. Factors include irrigation circuit at 3 levels: every 6 days, every 12 days and every 18 days and use of superabsorbent at 4 levels (control (50 kg / ha, 100 kg / ha, 150 kg / ha). In this experiment characteristics , plant height, grain yield of yield components, as well as biological yield, harvest index, oil percentage, protein percentage, chlorophyll a and b content, proline content, catalase enzyme, peroxidase enzyme were measured. The results of analysis of variance showed that the interaction effect of super absorbent and irrigation period on the final height of the plant, the number of capsules per plant, the number of seeds per capsule, the number of side branches, the weight of one thousand seeds, economic yield, harvest index, chlorophyll a and b concentration, protein percentage and catalase enzyme was significant Also, the interaction effect of superabsorbent and irrigation period on oil percentage, chlorophyll concentration, biological performance and peroxidase enzyme was not significant. The simple effect of superabsorbent and irrigation period on the final height of the plant, number of capsules per plant and peroxidase enzyme was significant. Also, the mutual effect of superabsorbent and irrigation period increased the height, the number of capsules per plant, the weight of 1000 seeds, the economic yield and the percentage of oil and protein.
